Come visit Huntsville State Park in Huntsville Texas! Lose yourself among the majestic trees and natural beauty of the East Texas Pineywoods. Rent a canoe, explore our trails or just relax by the lake. We are a short drive north of Houston, in the Sam Houston National Forest.
At Huntsville State Park, you can camp, hike, bike, picnic, fish, swim, paddle, geocache and study nature. We have 21 miles of trails, playgrounds, a bird blind and nature center. Take a virtual tour with our interactive trails map. Please note: Alligators live in the park; read our alligator safety tips.
Enjoy water activities on the 210-acre Lake Raven: Fish for crappie, perch, catfish and bass. We have a boat ramp, fishing piers and fish cleaning stations. We allow motor boats, but at idle speed only. You can swim in our designated area from 10:00 am-8:00 pm (no lifeguards). Rent a canoe, kayak or paddle boat. Borrow fishing equipment to use in the park.
Stay overnight! Rent one of our screened shelters or shelters with amenities, or choose from 160 campsites. Rent our group pavilion or hall for your next gathering. Gator Junction sells camping and fishing supplies, groceries, ice cream, cold drinks, ice, souvenirs and more! Our Nature Center has something for everyone: exhibits, bird nests and other collections, and animals. Hours vary; call the park for information.
Huntsville State Park has Campsites with Full Hookups. A minimum two night stay is required for all overnight facilities on Fri. and Sat. nights. These sites are designed for motor-homes and other recreational vehicles. This area is mostly paved. Some sites may not have space to accommodate tents. Drive lengths vary from 38 to 80 feet and vehicle lengths vary from 20 to 60 feet. Site #24 is wheelchair accessible.
Amenities for the campground includes: Pull-through sites, Picnic table, Fire ring, Water hookup, Sewer hookup, Lantern post, Restrooms nearby, Showers nearby, 20/30/50-amp electric hookup.
