Instructions
Pie
  1. Prepare pie pastry according to your favorite recipe, chill while preparing filling ingredients.
  2. In a mixing bowl, place pared, cored and sliced pears. Add sugar, flour, nutmeg an salt to pears. Mix until pear slices are thoroughly coated.
  3. Turn into pastry shell. Top with chopped nuts.
  4. Top pie with prepared Streusel Topping. Bake at 375 F. for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and topping is light brown. Serve hot or cold.
Streusel Topping
  1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add butter and with a fork, blend until mixture is the texture of coarse crumbs. Add oats and mix in gently.
Recipe Notes

If you want - To speed baking of the pie, prepare in a glass (Pyrex) pan. Preheat oven to 450 F. While oven preheats, place pie into microwave for 7 minutes on high. Brown in preheated oven for 7-9 minutes.
